Cookie Policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026. This policy explains how and why Pawwala uses cookies in accordance with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites recognise your device on return visits, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the site. Some cookies are set by us; others are set by third-party services we use.
Consent
Under UK PECR, we require your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. When you first visit Pawwala, a cookie banner will ask for your preferences. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the “Cookie Preferences” link in our footer.
Cookies We Use
Essential for the website to function. Cannot be switched off.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Pawwala | Stores whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies | 12 months |
| stats_optout | Pawwala | Remembers if you turned off Vercel Web Analytics | 12 months |
Google Analytics 4 loads only after you choose Accept all. Google signals and advertising features are switched off. If you later reject, we disable it and delete these cookies.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes visitors so we can see which guides are useful | 2 years |
| _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps session state for Google Analytics | 2 years |
Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights count page views and page speed without cookies or cross-site tracking, and keep only aggregate statistics. Vercel processes this for us to improve the site. We rely on the statistical-purposes exception in UK PECR, so it runs without consent, and you can object below at any time.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| None set | Vercel | Aggregate page-view and performance statistics | n/a |
Pawwala does not set these on pawwala.com. Choosing a sponsored link can take you to a retailer, where that retailer or a network such as Awin may set cookies under their own policy.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Set on the retailer | Retailer or affiliate network | Attribution after you click a sponsored link and land on the retailer's site | Set by that site, often up to 30 days |
Turn Off Statistics
Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies, but you can still object to being counted. Your choice is stored in the stats_optout cookie on this browser.
We also count clicks on affiliate links by page and retailer, without cookies or any identifier, so we can see which guides lead to purchases.
How to Manage Cookies
You have several options for controlling cookies:
- ▸Our cookie preferences: Click the 'Cookie Preferences' link in our footer to update your consent at any time.
- ▸Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies via Settings → Privacy or Security. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break site functionality.
- ▸Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- ▸Awin opt-out: Visit awin.com/gb/privacy/ to manage your Awin tracking preferences.
Affiliate Tracking
When you click an affiliate link on Pawwala, the retailer (or affiliate network such as Awin) may set a tracking cookie on your device to attribute the referral to us if you make a purchase. This is standard practice across the affiliate industry. For more information, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always show when we last made changes.
