How much are dog cameras over two years?

A dog camera's real cost is the device plus the subscription that unlocks recordings and alerts. Over two years, using the cheapest such plan on each maker's UK shop on 21 October 2026:

If you only want to watch live, the three Petcube cameras need no subscription at all: £49.99, £55.99 or £149.95 in total.

Do you need a subscription for a dog camera?

For live viewing, not with Petcube: its free Basic plancovers live streaming, while video history, smart alerts and downloads need Optimal (£4.99 a month billed yearly, or £9.99 monthly) or Premium (£11.99 a month billed yearly, or £16.99 monthly). Furbo says Furbo Nanny is “an optional subscription service that you may choose to purchase after your FREE 14-day trial”, but its shop shows the camera at £39 (360°) or £17 (Mini) when bought with a plan, against listed full prices of £159 and £79. Furbo says yearly and 2-year plans include a lifetime hardware warranty while the subscription is active.

Do dog cameras help with separation anxiety?

A dog camera helps you see the problem; it does not fix it. Dogs Trust suggests finding out what your dog does when alone: “set up your phone to video, peek through the window out of sight, or use a remote camera linked to a device”, then check the footage for signs of anxiety. In its training steps, it says a camera can help you check your dog stays relaxed while you are out of sight, and that working with a behaviour expert improves the chance of success. Dogs Trust also says dogs shouldn't be left alone for more than four hours; for longer days, see our dog walker cost guide.

Treat tossing (Furbo 360° and Petcube Bites 2 Lite) lets you reward calm behaviour remotely; Petcube says you can control the amount and distance. To work out your dog's daily food, including what goes in the treat hopper, try our dog food portion calculator. If your dog is anxious around noise, our dogs and fireworks guidecovers what the charities advise, and if you are worried about your dog's behaviour, contact your vet.
